Amanda Seyfried headed to Twin Peaks reboot

Hollywood star Amanda Seyfried (ex-Lucinda Montgomery, As the World Turns; ex-Joni Stafford, All My Children) has landed a role on Showtime's upcoming revival of the cult classic drama Twin Peaks.

Soap opera fans across the country have been looking forward to the revival of ABC's former primetime soap, Twin Peaks, and now there's even more reason to anxiously await the upcoming Showtime version: Daytime alum Amanda Seyfried (ex-Lucinda Montgomery, As the World Turns; ex-Joni Stafford, All My Children) has been cast in a major mystery role for the eerie series.

TV Line reports that the starlet has been cast as a pivotal new character on the reboot of the early 90s series, which is currently filming in Washington. Rumor has it she may be the daughter of existing characters Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) and Annie (Heather Graham).

Twin Peaks co-creators David Lynch and Mark Frost have written all episodes of the present-day continuation with Lynch directing every installment.

As soap fans may recall, The Young and the Restless' Ray Wise (Ian Ward) starred in the original version of the cult classic series as Leland Palmer, meaning there's a chance he'll back to the show, as well. Showtime president David Nevins has teased that "familiar faces" will be included in the reboot. "You should be optimistic that the people that you want [back] will be there," he said, "And then there will be some surprises in addition."

After her roles on ATWT (1999-2001) and AMC (2003), Seyfried found success in various movies like Mean Girls and Lovelace, as well as in television series like Big Love and Veronica Mars.

Are you looking forward to the reboot of Twin Peaks? What do you think about Seyfried joining the cast? Which character do you think she'll be playing? Share your thoughts in the Comments section below, on our message boards, or by submitting Feedback.
